Furry friends and say hello to Vale

OK – let’s get the name Vale out of the way!  It is pronounced Valley – we named our Weimaraner after Valetino Rossi the MotoGP champion!

He’s a great dog, not too sure of strangers, but great with the kids and really easy now to handle, we had some valuable assistance when he was a puppy from a local dog trainer Brian, highly recomend him, you can find out more about his business “Dogs listen up” from his website.  We often read about difficult weims and that they are hard to train, we haven’t really found that.  They are VERY stuborn and strong willed, if you say “No” to them from the day you get them, then fine – they seem to like knowing where they stand in the pack order, but if you ever give in, then it takes a very, very long time to correct them.  That combined with positive reward training and lots and lots of exercise every day, in every weather and he is a pussy cat then!  The other big thing about weimaraners is that they don’t like being alone, they are not a dog to leave alone all day, they can get very anxious, as I type this Vale is sleeping next me with one of his paws just touching my foot, very typical of them.

Photographs of pets can be a bit like photo’s kids – you can over do it, well at least you can in the eyes of others, not all of your freinds will like your dog, cat or dare we say it, your children!!

We have just been asked to take a photo of a beautiful Weim who sadly isn’t too well and is getting old, we are very pleased to be asked to do this and really want to capture him in a natural and relaxed setting for his family to remember him for decades to come.  We have also photographed another member of his family, Boo!  A great little Westie, who is full of character – fingers crossed as we believe that this picture of Boo is appearing in a local magazine next month, which is very exciting.

Whilst our style is to capture animals at play and doing what dogs do best, having fun – it is hard not to capture Weims posing, as they do it quite naturally!  Hope you enjoy the small collection here, more are available to view on our Flickr pages.
